KTM AG acquires a majority stake in Black Toro Capital, which currently owns Spanish brands Gas-Gas, known for its trial and off-road motorcycles, and Torrot, which specializes in electric motorcycles.

Preparations for the deal began back in 2015, when Gas-Gas had serious financial problems that almost led to bankruptcy.

In the summer of that year, specialists from KTM and Pierer Industry visited the factory in Girona. But then there was no understanding of what to do with the brand's production facilities, and Black Toro Capital took control of Gas-Gas.

It investments helped to save jobs, renew the lineup and come out on top in 2017 and 2018.

But in 2019, financial troubles began again, and Gas-Gas hopes that the current alliance with KTM will help not only preserve the Spanish motorcycle brand, but also contribute to its development.

Gas-Gas is strong in the production of off-road motorcycles for cross and enduro, but most of the titles for this brand have been won in trial competitions, where Gas-Gas motorcycles have participated since the early days of this particular sport discipline.

Plus, Torrot has interesting developments in the field of electric motorcycles, which may also be useful in the near future not only in terms of innovations, but also in purely practical terms, because restrictive and prohibitive measures applied to internal combustion engines are not far off.

Stefan Pierer is already taking the third motorcycle brand under his wing (KTM, Husqvarna, Gas-Gas) and, it seems, is not going to stop there.

The plans are to create a company Pierer Mobility AG, uniting many European motorcycle manufacturers.

The list of brands will only grow - Stefan Pierer knows how to make a profit and invest it in the development of production.
